Four Assad fighters killed by assailants in southern Quneitra province: reporter

At least four pro-regime fighters were killed by unknown assailants in southern Quneitra province on Friday, according to Zaman al-Wasl reporter.

The attack took place in Umm Batneh town where Syrian regime forces and allied Hezbollah militia are deployed near the Occupied Golan Heights.

In retaliation the Assad forces have pounded the town with artillery fire, threatening to storm the Umm al-Kouroum region.

For almost three years, the southern region has come under a Russian-brokered ceasefire but scattered clashes are still being reported.

More than 220,000 regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago.

The conflict in Syria has also killed more than 500,000 people and displaced 13.2 millions.
