Palestinians in Syria exposed to all lethal weapons kinds: monitor

Palestinian refugees in Syria have been subjected to serious violations and abuses as a result of their targeting of all kinds of lethal and internationally prohibited weapons such as napalm, cluster bombs and barrel bombs, rights monitoring group said Saturday.

The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria said 36 Palestinians, including 18 people of the same family, died on August 21, 2013, following the chemical attack on the Eastern Ghouta suburbs near Damascus.

The Syrian regime attack left more than 1700 people dead, mostly children and women.

The Britain-based group said eyewitnesses confirmed that the number of Palestinian refugees 'victims exceeds the declared numbers, due to the residents' withheld of the names of their victims for fear of the oppression of the regime, and the difficulties of documentation, amid the Syrian regime's denial of its use of toxic gases.

The AGPS called for bringing all those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Syria to justice, and ensuring that they are not impunity, stressing that the use of chemical weapons and targeting civilians constitute war crimes and serious human rights violations, and the provisions of the Geneva Conventions and international covenants.
