Syria’s regime government on Saturday appointed a new director for customs, following an anti-corruption campaign and a series of terminations for senior officials within the Finance Ministry.
Prime Minister Hussein Arnous assigned Majed Omran as the director general of customs, more than a month after the dismissal of Fawaz al-Asaad over corruption charges, according to pro-regime media outlets.
Omran has been the Director of Damascus Customs since the end of 2019. He has also been a member of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since April 2020.
