Bomb attack near Syria-Turkey border kills 1,wounds 8

At least one person was killed and eight others injured on Monday when a bomb-laden bag exploded in Syria's border town of Al-Rai, security sources said.

The bomb was left as a consignment to a shop on the busiest street of the town bordering Turkey.

Firefighters were seen trying to douse the blaze, while the surrounding shops suffered damage.

The wounded people were transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

Local security forces are considering the possibility that the attack was carried out by the Kurdish YPG militia.

Car bombs have become the new attack tactic by Kurdish militias to target pro-Turkey fighters, such a deadly tactic has claimed the lives of tens of people in Turkish-held areas along the border.

Turkey has a longstanding enmity with the Kurds and wants to push back the YPG from its border.

Ankara claims the YPG is a "terrorist" offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought an insurgency against the Turkish state since 1984.  With AA
