Syria’s opposition National Coalition on Monday elected Salem al-Muslat as its new president following a two-day meeting in Istanbul.
Al-Muslat, a prominent tribal figure, will replace Naser al-Hariri.
Al-Muslat heads the Syrian Tribal Council in northeastern Syria. He is also the head of the Jabour tribe in Syria and Iraq, and a member of the Executive Office of the Syrian National Council and was the spokesperson of the High Negotiations Committee.
