Model of Intelligence report on Friday Prayer: leaked document

(Translation by Dani Murad)

(Zaman Alwasl Leaks)- In a new leaked document from the Political Security Directorate in Raqqa, Zaman alwasl reveals a report made on one of the Friday prayers in 2008, where “praying for Mr president and praising him” was a mandatory thing that could not be forgotten or disregarded by any of the mosques’ preachers, no matter how much they oppose the regime.

And it’s no secret in the Syrian circles, that the regime has informants and spies an all the country’s mosques, to send periodic reports of the sermon’s content, the attendees, especially those “religiously suspicious from regime’s point of view”, particularly, people affiliated with Islamic parties, and on the top of the list: Wahabism, and Muslim Brotherhoods.

However, many Syrians haven’t got the chance to know the details of these intelligence reports about Friday prayers, and what kind of information they focused upon, therefore publishing this document is very important, because it’s the first of its kind and it gives an idea about regime’s priorities and interests in monitoring Syrians, even in their small daily life details.

The remarkable thing in the document, is that no matter how large or small the number of worshipers in the mosque, the report should specifically mention who attended the sermon, especially “ the released detainees” the followers of any religious party who recently been released, in addition to “Wahabi” followers, according to the document.

And the report was concluded with a confirmation that “the preachers ended their sermons by praying to President Bashar al-Assad, and no security chaos or disturbance occurred”, which is an essential phrase in every report.

But the mosques which the regimes of Bashar Al Assad and his father have tried hard to use in domesticating and taming Syrians ,have become following the spring of 2011, revolutionary centres to hundreds of thousands of Syrians, shouting to topple this regime, after breaking forever the barrier of fear.
