IDP camp in northern Syria hit by flooding

Winter winds and rain have pushed many internally displaced people in northern Syria out of their makeshift homes after many have been flooded out.

A storm front hit much of Syria caused flooding the al-Amin camp in the village of  Kafr Arrouk.

For the last two days,  Ibrahim Satam has been moving around from one neighbor to another trying to stay dry and warm after strong rains flooded out his tent. Satam was displaced from southern Idlib.

Syria has suffered a 10-year civil war that has left hundreds of thousands dead, and displaced millions of people, including over 5 million refugees outside the country.

Satam says life in the camp is hard all year long.

"In the summer, we suffer from the heat and the bugs. And in the winter, as you can see, we suffer from the cold and the rain comes down on us. My tent was flooded. My clothes, carpets got flooded. Even my bed and the heater is flood and for two days, I have been out moving from one tent to another. I am living with the neighbors."

A few tents down, Muzna al-Rashid is trying to dry out her family's clothes and blankets.

"The water went in all the tents  and flooded them. We don't even have anything to sit on and we don't even have clothes to wear. Even wood we don't have. Wood to warm up the kids, we don't have."
