500 Palestinian women died in Syria war since 2011: report

The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria documented death of 487 Palestinian women in Syria, almost 16% of the total Palestinian female victims who fell during the conflict period extending from March 2011 to March 8, 2022.

The London-based monitoring group confirmed that 243 female Palestinian refugees died in bombing attacks, 68 due to the siege and lack of medical care in Yarmouk camp south of Damascus, while 28 women died by snipers and 37 women died as a result of explosions, 24 victims of gunfire, 26 drowned, 5 women were summarily executed, 34 died of torture in Syrian prisons, and 20 for other reasons (slaughter, assassination, suicide, health crises, burning, suffocation, and the bullets of the Israeli occupation.

The Palestinian victims who died during the previous years, were distributed as follows: Damascus (163), Damascus countryside (152 victims), Homs (8), Hama (1) and one woman in the al-Ramel camp in Latakia.

In Aleppo at least 20 women were killed, as following: Nairab camp (9), Handarat camp (3), The University of Aleppo (2), one in the Hanano neighborhood (1) and one women in the old city while standing on bread queues.

In southern Daraa province at least 66 women were killed, distributed as 37 victims in Daraa camp, 11 in the town of Muzayrib, 4 in the town of Yadouda, and 2 in the town of  Daraa al-Balad.

The Monitoring and Documentation Team in the AGPS indicated that 4,116 Palestinian refugee were killed in 11 years.

The Syrian conflict has claimed 500,000 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests
