Assad turned lives of Syrian mothers into misery and ache: Mother's Day

The opposition's National Coalition on Mother's Day has praised the Syrian mothers' patience and courage throughout the long years of war where they lost tens of thousands of their beloved sons by the Assad regime.

In a statement,  the key opposition group congratulated the Syrian mother everywhere on the occasion of Mother's Day, with all pride in the mothers' achievements and efforts over the eleven years of the Syrian revolution.

The Syrian mothers have been carrying heavy burdens, fighting the harsh living conditions. But even though, the Syrian mothers continued to perform their familial and social duties, withstood enormous hardships, and contributed to preserving the family and the Syrian social fabric.

The grief of hundreds of thousands of Syrian mothers is compounded by the bitterness of displacement, forced displacement and living in camps after the Assad regime's occupation of their cities and towns, and their refusal to live in the areas it controls, the Coalition said.

The Syrian mother has proven during the years of this great revolution that she is the role model in giving in various fields and in the harshest conditions. She was the paramedic, the doctor, the writer, the activist, the demonstrator, the fighter and the leader in political action, the detainee, the martyr, and the mother of martyrs, according to the statement.

The Syrian revolution that turned into a bloody conflict has claimed 500,000 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
