Powdered milk became main ingredient for dairy in Syria amid decline of livestock

The head of the dairy and cheese association in the regime’s areas admitted that without powdered milk, things would have been more difficult due to the severe shortage of natural milk as a result of the lack of production of the material and the decline in livestock and the number of cows.

Abdulrahman al-Saidi told the pro-regime Hashtag Syria website that the availability of powdered milk was not affected by the Ukrainian crisis, because Syria imports it from Iran, where the price of a shawl of 25 kilograms reaches 350,000 SP (about $90), while the shawl reaches the same amount. From European countries to 400,000 SP( $110).

The prices of cheese and milk rose in recent days to unprecedented levels, as the price of a kilo of milk reached 10,000 SP, and the price of a kilo of milk reached 2,300 SP.

Al-Saidi indicated that the cost of a kilo of milk today, and the continuation of the craft facility, ranges between 1850-1900 SP, and that the Ministry of Internal Trade priced a kilo of milk in its latest bulletin, which came at a long interval from its predecessor, at 1,800 pounds from the producer, and 2000 pounds for the consumer.
