Regime shelling kills civilian in Aleppo countryside

One civilian was killed and another wounded Thursday in intense artillery shelling by the regime forces and Iranian militias targeting the western countryside of Aleppo city.

The artillery shelling of the "46th Regiment" targeted the village of Blanta, near the town of Atareb, west of Aleppo.

According to Zaman al-Wasl reporter, the regime forces and Iranian militias also targeted several villages and towns in the western countryside of Aleppo, which located within the so-called "fourth de-escalation" between Idlib and Aleppo. No casualties were reprted.

Similar shelling targeted villages and towns in the Ghab Plain in the western Hama countryside, without causing any casualties.

The intense bombardment on the “fourth de-escalation” area  halts the return of the displaced people to their homes in the Jabal al-Zawiya area, the Ghab Plain, and the western Aleppo countryside from returning since the ceasefire deal between Turkish and Russian on March 5, 2020.

Northwestern Syria is home to 3.5 million refugees but is controlled by opposition Islamist fighters.

The Syrian revolution that turned into a bloody conflict has claimed 500,000 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
