Unknown assailants kill two Military Security agents in Daraa

Unidentified gunmen assassinated two collaborators with Military Security in southern Daraa province, which witnesses a continuation of assassinations, the frequency of which increased after the regime took control of the province in the summer of 2018, activists said on Wednesday.

No group claimed responsibility as the sporadic killings became the most prominent event in the southern province, as the year 2021 witnessed the killing of more than 500 assassinations, according to local activists.

In August 2018, a Russian-brokered reconciliation agreement was reached in southern Syria led to the militants handing over their weapons and displacing a number of them to the northern region, but despite this, skirmishes and sporadic military operations are still taking place in the first stronghold of the Syrian revolution.

The Syrian conflict has claimed a half million lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
