Syrian Oil Minister Bassam Tohme asked his Algerian counterpart, Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, to supply Syria with domestic gas, on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week forum, which started on Wednesday in Moscow and will continue until the 14th of this month.

The Syrian Oil Ministry added in a statement that the two parties agreed to expedite the procedures for reaching an agreement, noting that the Algerian minister expressed his country's readiness to receive a delegation from the regime to end this issue as quickly as possible.

A follower of the activities of the Russian Energy Forum, in a statement to Eqtsad, indicated that such discussions often take place during the buffet break, during the work of any conference, and they often do not take a serious nature.

The source considered that the regime’s Oil Ministry was very hasty in issuing a statement declaring Algeria’s readiness to supply Syria with domestic gas, pointing out that such a matter is not done so easily, especially since Algeria is linked to long-term contracts with its European customers, in addition to that it does not have, At the moment any additional quantities to be exported, otherwise the European market would have grabbed it immediately.
