Hundreds in the Syrian city of Hassakeh attended the funeral of five guards who were killed by Turkish airstrikes in various locations in the northeast of the country.
The people killed include three guards from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces who were killed in a Turkish strike on areas surrounding al-Hol camp.
The camp houses tens of thousands of women and children linked to the Islamic State group.
One of the SDF fighters killed was Saifuddin Mohammed, a 36-year-old father of four children.
The five who were killed also include two members of the Kurdish security forces, known as Asayish.
Turkey has launched a wave of airstrikes on suspected Kurdish rebels hiding in neighboring Syria and Iraq, in retaliation for a deadly Nov. 13 bombing in Istanbul that Ankara blames on the Kurdish groups.
The groups have denied involvement in the bombing and say the Turkish strikes have killed civilians and threatened the anti-IS fight.
