Zaman al-Wasl obtained a new footage of a horrific massacre committed by the Syrian regime forces and loyal thugs against more than 200 children, women and men in the Ras al-Naba'a village in the coastal city of Baniyas in 2013.
The clip showed the accumulation of victims, including children, women and young men, who were deliberately killed by Bashar al-Assad's soldiers and thugs (Known as Shabiha), after masterfully torturing them.
The bodies of the victims, who numbered more than 200, appeared mutilated from the side of the head and abdomen, while some bodies were burned after being tortured in order to get rid of them.
The video was handed over to Zaman al-Wasl by the former local head (Known as Mukhtar) of Baniyas town, Mansour Mohamed, in addition to presenting his testimony.
According to the video documenting the massacre, the youth of Ras al-Naba'a region expressed their great shock at the scenes of their families and acquaintances who were burned, killed, and tortured by various brutal means at the hands of Assad's shabiha on March 4, 2013.
Batool Hudhaifa, the survivor and witness to the Bayda and Baniyas" massacres, spoke to Zaman al-Wasl about the horrific scenes and harsh moments she lived through several days, stressing the need to hold the perpetrators of the two massacres accountable and achieve justice.
Syria’s war has killed nearly half a million people, displaced millions, fragmented the country and ravaged its economy and infrastructure.
