24 Cholera deaths recorded in northern Syria in 10 months

The Syrian Civil Defense Agency said that the number of cholera deaths in northwestern Syria, the stronghold of the opposition, since the first death was recorded in September of last year 2022 until July 19, has risen to 24, while the number of infected people has risen to 856.

The White Helmets confirmed that among the deaths were 4 deaths, after the devastating earthquake that struck the region on February 6, and led to the destruction of infrastructure, water and sewage lines in many areas of northwestern Syria.

The local rescue agency stated that its teams are intensifying emergency response and sanitation work, especially in camps and earthquake-affected areas, in addition to raising awareness to limit the spread of cholera among civilians.

The White Helmets called on the people to pay attention to the sources of drinking water, to boil it before drinking it if possible, to cook food well, to wash vegetables well before eating them, and to adhere to preventive measures.
