Honored by Assad; Russian colonel killed in Ukraine

A Russian officer accused of war crimes in Syria was killed on the fronts of Ukraine, and activists reported that Colonel Matinov Sergeyevich, who was awarded a medal of appreciation by the head of the Syrian regime for his criminality and killing of defenseless innocents in Syria during the years 2017 and 2022, was killed in the Special Military Operations (NVO) area in Ukraine.

From time to time, the death of Russian officers in Ukraine, who participated in the fighting alongside the Syrian regime forces and committed violations against Syrians, is announced.

Black hole

Sib.fm reported that three NVVKU graduates died on the same day in Russia's Special Military Operation SVO after being fatally wounded by heavy mortar fire fired by the Ukrainians.

Russian blogger Necro Manser said on his Telegram account that Matinov, 45, took part in parade maneuvers, visited the Special Administrative Region and disarmed somewhere in Ukraine and was killed there.

The journalist, Ahmed Mowafak Zaidan, commented, "Lieutenant Colonel Matinov Anatoly Sergeyevich, commander of a tank brigade who fought in Syria between 2017-2022, received a medal for killing Bashar al-Khemi, and a few days ago he perished in Ukraine, which has become a black hole that swallows the killers of the Syrian people."

Neither Ukraine nor Russia discloses its losses in the war, and according to semi-official statistics, the death toll of Russian forces until September 2022 is 5,937 people.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces had previously announced the killing of General Andrei Kolesnikov, commander of the Eastern Military District in Ukraine, without clarifying the details of his death at the time.

Also killed were General Vitaly Gerasimov, Chief of Staff of the 41st Army, who died outside Kharkiv, and General Andrei Sukhovetsky.
