White Helmets: Unexploded ordnance terrifies farmers as olive season approaches

The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that with the olive harvest season approaching, farmers and workers are living in a state of fear as a result of the dangers of the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO), which may lead to certain death for them, especially since the recent escalation campaign by the regime forces in Russia has increased the number of these munitions.

The local rescue agency said that a farmer reported to our teams about the presence of a cluster bomb near his house and land in Maarat al-Naasan in the eastern countryside of Idlib. Our teams eliminated the danger and secured the place by conducting a survey of the land.

The White Helmets added that conscious interaction is very important to protect lives in the event of finding or seeing remnants of war or unexploded ordnance, and not approaching or touching them and informing our teams immediately, and our teams seek to enhance awareness among the population in addition to surveying and removal operations.
