At least 11 members of the regime's intelligence were killed in a sophisticated infiltration operation carried out by the Islamic State group on Monday evening in the Palmyra Badia desert in the eastern countryside of Homs, a military source told Zaman al-Wasl.
The ISIS militants infiltrated two adjacent military points in the 25th Military Division, and killed 11 members, including two officers.
The source said that the ISIS members seized all the weapons and ammunition present at the two points, in addition to two military vehicles equipped with ground machine guns.
ISIS members burned the two points completely before withdrawing, and fled deep into the desert, using armored cars that they had placed in places close to the area.
The source confirmed that the regime's intelligence sent military reinforcements from the city of Palmyra to the region, which included military vehicles, tanks, and dozens of members, in conjunction with a flight of Russian warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft.
They transported the dead to the Palmyra Military Hospital with a comprehensive alert and the deployment of elements and reinforcements at a distance of 3 kilometers from the location of the two targeted points.
