Germany: Mass brawl between 40 Syrians at Nuremberg train station

German newspaper Bild reported that a mass brawl broke out at the main train station in Nuremberg on Friday evening between around 40 people, all of Syrian origin.

Bild quoted the federal police as saying that the incident occurred after a verbal altercation between two groups, each of around 20 people, which led to physical assaults between the participants.

The police confirmed that no serious injuries were recorded during the brawl, which took place at the western exit of the station, requiring medical attention.

According to the initial investigations, according to the newspaper, one of the participants threatened to use a knife, while another used a metal chain in the attack. A 19-year-old man attacked his opponent with a piece of metal from a vacuum cleaner.

When federal and local police forces arrived, only six people between the ages of 16 and 29 remained at the scene. The police began investigating several charges, including disturbing public order, physical assault, and aggravated assault.

The police appealed to people who have any information regarding the incident to contact the Federal Police in Nuremberg via a special telephone number or to report via the Nuremberg Police email.
