The Military Operations Department of the "Deterrence of Aggression" Operations Room began entering the neighborhoods of Homs city, central Syria, after a mass withdrawal of regime forces and Iranian-backed militias from inside the city's neighborhoods towards the western countryside, reaching the Syrian coast.
Informed sources told Zaman al-Wasl that the Military Operations Department was deployed in most of the city's neighborhoods, and began combing operations inside those neighborhoods, with the aim of pursuing the remnants of Assad's forces and shabiha who were deployed inside the neighborhoods of Homs city, indicating that the announcement of full control over Homs city will be in a few hours, after the completion of the combing operations of the city.
The sources indicated to Zaman al-Wasl that 4 helicopters transported security and military officers affiliated with Assad's forces from the "Shayrat" airport towards the coastal cities, confirming that half of the airport's forces withdrew towards the western countryside of Homs, central Syria.
Meanwhile, Five Arab countries and Iran, Turkey and Russia said on Saturday a political solution was needed to stop military operations and protect civilians in Syria.
In a joint statement released by the countries’ foreign ministers after they met in Doha, they said the crisis in Syria posed a threat to regional and international security.
