Graves without headstones; A cemetery that holds 6000 victims

Journalist Mohamed Asakrah visited the mass grave that talked about in 2020, and described it as the "Mother of Cemeteries", as it contains the remains of 6 thousand detainees. The cemetery is located at the Baghdad Bridge interchange at the beginning of the "Northern Ring Road" in the capital, Damascus. The deposed Assad regime established this cemetery at the beginning of 2014 in a purely military area, surrounded by military barracks on all sides, directly adjacent to the reconnaissance school that is adjacent to it from the west, and from the south it is adjacent to one of the air force squares.

One of the participants in digging the mass graves confirmed in his testimony to the media that the regime was forcing them to dig, claiming that it was going to build a military barracks. However, after the fall of the regime, they discovered that they were only mass graves of bodies of detainees brought by the regime from its security branches or military barracks, he added.

The former regime fenced off this cemetery, which covers an area of 6.5 hectares, before starting the
burials in it, and placed guards on it from the "Fourth Division" and the "Air Force Intelligence", as they follow the large barrier on the international road during the previous years.

The movement of the refrigerated trucks transporting the bodies was monitored and photographed from the air, and any user of the "Google" program can follow and monitor the movement of these refrigerated trucks, along with the burial and digging movement inside the cemetery over the past years.

The cemetery contains the bodies of detainees who were liquidated inside detention centers and prisons as a result of torture, especially the Sednaya prison, the "Fourth Division" prison, the "Republican Guard", various intelligence branches, and the rest of the detention centers, and bodies that were transferred from other mass graves in which the regime had buried dozens, especially near the various military barracks.

The mass grave also contains the bodies of wounded and sick opposition members who died inside the Assad regime's hospitals after being taken to them during the battles, and other bodies of fighters from the Syrian resistance factions from the opposition who were killed during confrontations with the regime and whose bodies were seized by the regime during the battles.

In addition to the bodies of opposition members whose remains were transferred by the regime from the graves in which they were buried during the opposition forces' control over them, and recruits who tried to defect from the regime and were executed in the field.
