Six people killed and kidnapped in Qalamoun at Lebanon-Syria border

Three people were killed and three others were kidnapped in the countryside of the Nabak area in the Qalamoun region, northeast of Damascus, on Thursday, after being targeted by an armed group deployed on the Lebanese-Syrian border.

Local sources told Zaman al-Wasl that three people, believed to be former members of the ousted Assad regime, were killed on Thursday, in addition to other people being seriously injured.

Three other people were also kidnapped in the town of "Fleita" located on the western edge of the city of "Nabk" in Qalamoun in the Damascus countryside, as a result of an attack carried out by an armed group of unknown affiliation that was coming from the outskirts of the town of "Arsal" located within Lebanese territory on the border with Syria.

The sources confirmed that the armed group kidnapped the other three young men to a rugged area on the Syrian-Lebanese border, amid speculation that the group wanted to spread panic among the residents of the area in order to create a state of chaos.

A patrol affiliated with the Military Operations Command had headed to the area in conjunction with a group of police, with the aim of pursuing the wanted persons and deploying a patrol in the town, coinciding with a state of fear among the residents of a recurrence of killings and kidnappings in the area due to the presence of remnants of the ousted Assad regime on the Lebanese border.
