Turkish Interior Minister announces flexible measures to facilitate Syrians return

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Tuesday a series of measures related to the voluntary and honorable return of Syrians residing in Turkey to their country.

Yerlikaya said during his hosting of the editorial meeting of the Anadolu Agency that Syrians wishing to return to their country can take all their belongings and vehicles with them.

He added that Syrians wishing to return can submit an application through the website of the Presidency of Immigration Management and get an appointment on the same day.

The minister stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued instructions regarding allowing one person from each family to leave for and return from Syria 3 times during the period from January to July 2025, to facilitate arrangements for the return of his family.

The minister also announced that an office for the Immigration Management will be established at the Ankara Embassy in Damascus and its consulate in Aleppo to facilitate the return of Syrians.

Yerlikaya pointed out that 763,443 Syrians have returned to their country voluntarily, safely and in an organized manner since 2017, and that the number of returnees to Syria in the last 15 days has exceeded 25,000 people.
