More than 50,000 Syrians return to their homeland in 3 weeks: UN

The number of refugees returning to Syria from neighboring countries has exceeded 50,000 since the fall of the Assad regime in December, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, confirmed on Thursday.

Grandi said that the number of Syrian refugees returning to their country from neighboring countries is gradually increasing, noting that more than 50,000 Syrians have returned to their homeland in the past 3 weeks.

He explained that the material conditions in Syria are still "dire," stressing the need to provide more humanitarian assistance to returnees and all those who need it.
