11 civilians killed in Israeli airstrike northeast of Damascus

Eleven people, most of them civilians, were killed on Sunday in an Israeli bombing that targeted a former weapons depot in the Adra industrial area northeast of Damascus, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.

The incident sparked panic in the surrounding area due to the intensity of the explosion, which completely destroyed the site and caused extensive material damage.

It is worth noting that the Israeli Air Force has escalated its military operations since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, targeting sites that Tel Aviv considers a security threat, such as weapons depots, airports, and seaports, in addition to air defense systems and warplanes.

This escalation comes amid growing regional tensions, while no official comment has been issued by the Israeli side regarding the attack so far.

Rescue teams rushed to the site of the explosion, where they are working to recover bodies and evacuate the injured amid fears of additional explosions resulting from the remaining ammunition.

It is worth noting that the Adra industrial area was used in recent years as a strategic location for storing weapons and ammunition by the forces of the defunct regime.
