All the ready-made molds of the Syrians were shattered in bidding farewell to one year and welcoming another, as this is a Syrian year par excellence.
The Syrians are filled with joy, surrendering to the waves of happiness after the dawn of December 8, 2024.
Their joy was only spoiled by the exorbitant price of reaching their freedom, for how difficult it is to reach freedom when its price is determined by the slaves of the mafia of power and money?!
We almost forgot that this country with its great history is an open-air museum, only to discover after the liberation that Syria is a mass grave in the open air.
We know that our Syria was a large prison, and many Syrians experienced the brutal methods of the regime that dictionaries are unable to describe.
The world sings the praises of the ruins of Palmyra, the bride of our desert, and they praise Queen Zenobia and her husband King Odaenathus, and they write their memories of the Temple of Bel and the Arch of Triumph, but the Syrian does not remember Palmyra except for the practices of torture and death in its prison that the regime closed to improve its image abroad.
In Sednaya, many stories of Syrian oppression are summarized, which some people did not believe us when we told them!
Perhaps we can excuse these people because what was happening cannot be seen even in the most horrific stories of injustice and death practiced by fascist terrorist regimes from ancient and medieval times to the eras of "Hitler, Franco, Stalin, Pinochet" and other butchers.
In another oppressive scene, some people were forced, for whatever reasons, to deal with that regime, so they would say that so-and-so had returned to the bosom of the homeland.
And their voices rose in mockery and gloating during the attempts of some Arab and Western countries to absorb the regime to extract it from the bosom of Iran, so they also considered that a return of those countries to the bosom of their homeland!
Until that day came, which was written with the blood of tens of thousands of martyrs, the eighth of December, to announce the return of Syria to the bosom of its sons.
Syria did not only bid farewell to the year 2024, but also bid farewell to the year 1963, according to some, or the year 1970, according to others.
Most importantly, Syria enters 2025 with a new face planning for a better future, benefiting from the mistakes of the past, and every year Syria is free for all its people.
