The British newspaper The Sun revealed that the deposed Bashar al-Assad was subjected to an assassination attempt in Russia through poisoning, last Sunday.
The newspaper said that al-Assad requested urgent medical assistance, after feeling symptoms of suffocation and continuous coughing, as tests showed the presence of a toxic substance in his body.
The newspaper added that al-Assad received treatment in his apartment, and that his condition stabilized on Monday.
