The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing of 503 civilians in Syria in December 2024, including 96 children and 49 women, and 4 victims due to torture, including one child and one woman. It also documented the killing of 1,264 civilians in Syria in 2024, including 242 children and 118 women, and 86 victims due to torture.
SNHR said in its monthly report that out of the 1,264 civilians documented to have been killed in 2024, the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime killed 356 civilians, including 92 children and 40 women.
While Russian forces killed 29 civilians, including 9 children and 2 women, while the Syrian Democratic Forces killed 166 civilians, including 23 children and 6 women, and the armed opposition factions/National Army killed 25 civilians, including 4 children and 3 women, while we recorded the killing of 21 civilians, including 2 children and 2 women, by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, and 4 civilians, including 1 child, by ISIS forces, and we also recorded the killing of a child by the International Coalition forces. The report recorded the killing of 662 civilians, including 111 children and 65 women, by other parties.
The report added that Aleppo Governorate topped the rest of the governorates with a percentage of nearly 27% of the total number of victims, while Daraa Governorate came in second with a percentage of nearly 18%, followed by Idlib Governorate with 13%, and Deir Ezzor Governorate with a percentage of nearly 11%. Most of the victims in these governorates were killed by other parties.
The report documented the killing of 86 people under torture in 2024, all at the hands of the parties to the conflict and the controlling forces, including 52 civilians, including 2 children, at the hands of Bashar al-Assad regime forces, 17 at the hands of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, 6 at the hands of the armed opposition/National Army, and 10 at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces, including 2 children and 1 woman, while one case was recorded at the hands of other parties.
The killing of 15 medical personnel was documented in 2024, including 9 at the hands of other parties, and 6 at the hands of Bashar al-Assad regime forces. The report recorded the killing of 3 civil defense personnel, all in December 2024, including 2 at the hands of Assad regime forces, and 1 at the hands of other parties. The report also documented the killing of 6 media personnel, all in December 2024, including 5 at the hands of Bashar al-Assad regime forces, and 1 at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The report recorded 33 massacres in 2024 by parties to the conflict and controlling forces, including 14 by Bashar al-Assad regime forces, 2 by Russian forces, and 2 by the Syrian Democratic Forces, while 15 massacres were recorded by other parties. The report stated that the Syrian Network for Human Rights documented in December the killing of 503 civilians, including 96 children and 49 women, by parties to the conflict and controlling forces in Syria. The report also recorded the killing of 151 civilians, including 20 children and 13 women, by other parties.
