Assad militants kill two Security forces in Latakia city

On Sunday, a General Security patrol was attacked in the Al-Awaina neighborhood in the coastal city of Latakia, killing a number of members in a security incident that shook the region.

The attack took place following a tight ambush set up for the patrol while it was carrying out its duties in the neighborhood.

The ambush resulted in a number of deaths among the members, while the competent authorities began their investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and pursue the perpetrators.

On December 26, 4 members of the General Security Department affiliated with the Ministry of Interior were killed, and 6 others were injured, in an ambush carried out by armed groups outside the law that were previously part of the forces of the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime. The attack took place in the village of Balqsa, near the town of Talkalakh in the western countryside of Homs, central Syria.

Fourteen members of the General Security Department were killed days earlier, in addition to the injury of 10 others, as a result of an ambush in the village of "Khirbet al-Ma'za", affiliated with the "Safita" district, in the countryside of Tartous Governorate, northwest of Syria, where an armed group affiliated with the remnants of the former regime targeted a security patrol in an attack described as "brutal and treacherous." The ministry confirmed that the members were performing their daily duties to ensure security and stability in the area, when they were attacked.
