Syrian electricity will cover 50 percent of needs after the arrival of two energy ships

The Director General of the General Establishment for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, Engineer Khaled Abu Day, said that two ships to generate electricity from Turkey and Qatar are coming to Syria and will generate 800 megawatts, which is equivalent to half of what is currently generated in Syria, which will contribute to increasing the citizen's share of electricity by approximately 50 percent.

He added that work is currently underway to secure transmission lines to receive electricity from the docking location of the two ships, and electricity transmission lines will be extended from them to the nearest transformer station to be connected to the electricity grid.

The minister confirmed that the extent of the damage suffered by the generation and transformation stations and electrical connection lines during the period of the defunct regime is very large, stressing that he is currently seeking to rehabilitate the generation stations and transmission lines so that the network is capable of transmitting energy.
