A former detainee by the Syrian Military Intelligence exclusively confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that the American journalist and former Marine Corps officer Austin Tice was detained in the cell next to him on December 13, 2018, about six years since his arrest on August 13, 2012.
The former detainee, who was held in cell number 14 in Branch 248 for ten days (he was arrested on January 1, 2018), confirmed that Tice was treated as a special guest, that there was someone who communicated in English, that food was provided to him upon his request, and that he was forbidden from communicating with any of the prisoners.
The source also revealed to Zaman al-Wasl that one of the military investigators who interrogated him had information about Tice that could reveal more information about the fate of the American journalist.
