Turkey: More than 52,000 Syrians have returned home since Assad's fall

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that the number of Syrians who have returned to their country since the fall of the Baath regime on December 8 has reached 52,622 people.

This came in a statement made by Yerlikaya to journalists during his presence on Thursday at the Cilvegozu border crossing with Syria in the southern province of Hatay, according to the Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish minister said: "Thank God, Assad has fled, and the Syrians have gained their freedom. Turkey, with all its institutions and civil organizations, has stood by the Syrian brothers since the beginning of Assad's injustice."

Yerlikaya explained that the number of Syrians still residing in Turkish territory is 2,888,876.

The Turkish Interior Minister pointed out that the number of Syrians who have returned to their country voluntarily and safely since 2017 has reached 792,625.
