Ahmad al-Sharaa assumes the duties of President of the Syrian Arab Republic: Military statement

The Syrian military command announces that Ahmed al-Sharaa has assumed the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic.


Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, the spokesman for the Military Operations Command, which overthrew the Assad regime, said in a statement announcing the victory of the Syrian revolution: 1️⃣ The Military Operations Command congratulates our great Syrian people on the victory of their blessed revolution, which constitutes the legitimacy speaking in their name. 2️⃣ We declare the victory of the great Syrian revolution, and consider the eighth of December of each year a national day. 3️⃣ We declare the dissolution of the People's Assembly formed during the time of the defunct regime, and the committees emanating from it. 4️⃣ We declare the dissolution of the army of the defunct regime, and the rebuilding of the Syrian army on national foundations. 5️⃣ We declare the dissolution of all security agencies affiliated with the defunct regime, with their various branches and names, and all the militias it established, and the formation of a new security institution that preserves the security of citizens. 6️⃣ We declare the dissolution of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, the parties of the National Progressive Front, and all affiliated organizations, institutions and committees, and it is prohibited to reconstitute them under any other name, provided that all their assets return to the Syrian state. 7️⃣ All military factions, political and civil revolutionary bodies are dissolved and merged into state institutions. 8️⃣ We declare the assumption of Ahmad Al-Sharaa as the president of the country in the transitional phase, and he carries out the duties of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic, and represents it in international forums. 9️⃣ Authorizing the President of the Republic to form a temporary legislative council for the selective phase, which assumes its duties until a permanent constitution for the country is approved and comes into effect.
