Record jump for the Syrian pound against US dollar

The exchange rate of the Syrian pound has achieved a record jump, rising to an unprecedented level in more than 18 months.

The exchange rate of the Syrian pound against the dollar in the capital, Damascus, rose by about 11.89%, in the daily transactions, for Thursday.

The dollar fell in Damascus by 1,350 pounds, closing between 9,900 pounds for purchase, and 10,000 pounds for sale. The dollar recorded the same prices, or close to them with a margin of 100 to 200 pounds, in most Syrian cities.

These prices for the dollar are unprecedented since July 10, 2023.

While the euro fell to between 10,330 pounds for purchase, and 10,430 pounds for sale.

The exchange rate of the Turkish lira against the Syrian pound fell, becoming between 275 Syrian pounds for purchase, and 280 Syrian pounds for sale.

While the exchange rate of the Turkish lira against the dollar ranged between 34.77 Turkish liras for purchase and 35.77 Turkish liras for sale. The Central Bank kept the dollar purchase price - including the "remittance dollar" - at 13,000 liras, and the sale price at 13,130 liras, in the "Banks and Exchange" and "Official Bulletin" bulletins issued on Thursday.
