“You are with us”: Campaign to paint memorial murals for 10,000 forcibly disappeared persons

The Syrian Justice and Empowerment Organization recently launched the "You Are With Us" campaign to draw memorial murals for 10,000 forcibly disappeared persons, to raise awareness of the issue of enforced disappearance, in several provinces starting from Damascus, Daraa and Idlib.

Artists and students from the Faculty of Arts at Damascus University are participating in the campaign, in addition to the families of detainees and disappeared persons, as the campaign aims to emphasize the path of justice and to bring the truth to the families of detainees and forcibly disappeared persons during the era of the defunct Assad regime.

Hassan Jilo, a member of the Justice and Empowerment Organization and the campaign coordinator, told Anadolu Agency, "You Are With Us is the title of a campaign that was launched in Damascus, Idlib and Daraa and will continue in the rest of Syria's governorates."

This campaign aims to draw 10,000 faces of forcibly disappeared persons, noting that the Syrian Network for Human Rights stated that there are about 300,000 forcibly disappeared persons.

Jilo stressed in his speech that "this mural is a memorial and a symbol for us to remember, and for everyone who passes by to remember that there are people who paid a very high price, they paid the most precious thing a person can have, which is his existence, his life and his freedom."

Students from the College of Arts and relatives of detainees, men and women, and the disappeared, men and women are participating in drawing this memorial mural, and this campaign is to emphasize the need to continue on the path of justice, and the need for the truth to reach all people.
