At least five Israeli airstrikes pounded the city of Al-Kiswah, south of the capital, and the countryside of Daraa, local activists told Zaman al-Wasl.
Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes targeting military sites belonging to the First Division in the Al-Kiswah area southwest of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Local sources reported to
Zaman al-Wasl
that five airstrikes targeted the "12th Brigade" and the agricultural airport, in addition to a battalion on the Busra Al-Harir Road in the Izra area in the central Daraa countryside, southern Syria.
In conjunction with the airstrikes, the Israeli occupation forces penetrated the village of Ain Al-Bayda in the northern Quneitra countryside, amid intensive flights of Israeli warplanes in the skies of Daraa and Quneitra .
The escalation comes after successive statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Minister of Defense, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to prevent turning southern Syria into a situation similar to southern Lebanon and to prevent the establishment of any military bases for the New Syrian Army in the provinces of Quneitra, Sweida, and Daraa.
Also, the Israeli military vehicles, including two tanks and several vehicles, were also seen crossing from the village of Saida Al-Golan on the administrative border between Daraa and Quneitra towards the western Daraa countryside. These forces reached the "Al-Majhad Barracks" and other points around the village of Al-Bakkar in the western Daraa countryside.
Israeli Channel 14 confirmed that the Israeli army targeted military bases that previously served the Syrian army, and destroyed combat equipment in Damascus.
