Damascus: 3 judges accused of war crimes appointed to the Court of Cassation

The Minister of Justice issued a decision to appoint judges of the Court of Cassation for the year 2025, most of whom are known for their integrity. However, during the audit, the following became clear:

- Appointing Counselor Ahmed Fahim Khalil as a member of the Seventh Civil Chamber, noting that he was, for a full year under Assad's rule, the head of the Military Criminal Court in Damascus.

- Appointing Counselor Sayel Al-Tahhan as a member of the Third Misdemeanor Chamber, who was the first military investigative judge in Damascus during the previous regime!

- Appointing Counselor Rashid Al-Zoubi as a member of the Third Misdemeanor Chamber, who previously served as the head of the Public Prosecution Office in the Terrorism Court.

The appointment sparked the anger of activists who saw that the three judges suspected of committing war crimes should be referred to investigation, as many Syrian citizens were harmed by them or lost their lives and were buried in a mass grave because of them.
