Demonstrations in southern Syria denouncing the Israeli incursion near the buffer zone

Several villages and towns in the southern province of Daraa witnessed mass demonstrations on Friday condemning the recent Israeli statements and the incursion of the occupation forces into areas near the buffer zone on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

These popular movements come in light of the recent Israeli escalation in the region, as the Israeli occupation forces had infiltrated at dawn today, Friday, towards the "Tal Mashara" military base in the eastern countryside of Quneitra, in addition to their incursion into the town of "Al-Rafid" in the countryside of Quneitra.

In the town of Nimr, north of the city of Daraa, dozens took to the streets raising slogans affirming the unity of Syrian lands and rejecting Israeli attacks.

A demonstration also took place in the town of "Khirbet Ghazala" east of Daraa to denounce the Israeli air strikes on Syria, stressing the need to preserve Syria's unity and independence, and rejecting the Israeli occupation's attempts to target Syrian lands.

The Israeli moves come at a sensitive time, following statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called for the evacuation of the southern region of Syrian military forces, issuing warnings against the entry of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" or the "New Syrian Army" into those areas. These statements sparked angry reactions in the Syrian street, as activists considered them a blatant interference in the country's internal affairs and a violation of its sovereignty.
