Three killed, 20 injured in explosion in Syria’s Deir Ezzor: State media

Three people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion in Syria’s eastern Deir Ezzor region, the state news agency reported on Monday.

The first explosion occurred on Monday near the "Al-Tayyarah" roundabout in the border city of "Al-Bukamal" after a fuel tanker exploded, killing three people and wounding more than 15 others with varying injuries, who were transferred to "Al-Zubair" Hospital and Deir Ezzor hospitals for treatment.

In a separate incident, two people were killed as a result of an oil tanker explosion in the town of "Baqras", located north of the city of "Al-Mayadeen" on the road leading to the center of Deir Ezzor city.

Deir Ezzor, which the new Syrian government regained large parts of after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, is witnessing repeated explosions resulting from oil smuggling and poor fuel storage, amid calls for tightening control and imposing stricter safety measures to reduce these disasters that threaten the lives of civilians.
