"Silent Infiltration" of Baathists and Israel Supporters into Civil Society

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements and blatant projects against the state do not worry the Syrians, as the real danger does not lie here; rather, it lies in the silent projects, such as the Baathists' infiltration into the state's joints silently, in addition to the supporters of peace projects without compensation with the occupying state.

*Golan Peace!

Mohammad Anad Suleiman is one of the names associated with the peace project with Israel in 2017, as he was part of a preparatory committee that established this project in cooperation with other figures, most notably his close friend Issam Zeitoun.

At the time, the project sparked widespread controversy, especially among the people of the Golan, who denounced the idea and rejected it categorically. These events were documented through a statement issued by the people of the Golan, in which they expressed their complete rejection of any project that conflicts with their national interests and approaches normalization with Israel.

*What is the 2017 Initiative?

The 2017 initiative, known as the "Golan Peace", was part of a comprehensive plan. The preparatory committee for the initiative consisted of three main members: Muhammad An’ad Suleiman (France), Khaled al-Hussein (Netherlands), and Issam Zaytoun (Germany).

The most important points of the initiative included:

1. Recognizing the State of Israel on the borders of June 4, 1967.

2. Separating the issue of the Syrian people from other regional issues.

3. Approving the continuation of Israeli military and security control over the Golan Heights within a specific time frame.

4. Opening a relief artery and a corridor for goods and travelers through Israeli ports and territories.

5. Placing the Golan under international protection, separate from its mother country.

These points sparked widespread controversy and strong rejection by many Syrians, especially the people of the Golan, who saw them as an attempt to perpetuate the Israeli occupation and ignore the national rights of the Syrian people.

* Return to Syria and start over

With the beginning of the liberation, Suleiman returned to Syria with a pre-arranged reception, and toured as a visitor and advisor between Daraa, Sweida, and Quneitra, where he tried to rebuild his relations with the local community.

After returning to Quneitra, Suleiman worked to form three volunteer teams, a move that appeared to be positive and aimed at serving the community. However, this move raised questions about the real goals behind it, especially in light of his history associated with the peace project with Israel.

Some observers believe that these volunteer teams may be an attempt to build a popular base that supports his political agenda or future projects.

Through his repeated meetings with local officials, including the Governor of the Damascus Countryside, Amer al-Sheikh, and security leaders; it seems that Suleiman is trying to strengthen his influence in the region, which raises concerns that these steps are a prelude to other attempts to pass projects linked to the occupying state, especially those related to the issue of normalization with Israel.

The question remains: What is the official government position on these moves?
