Al-Sharaa: Our goal is to reform the country and we will not be lenient with aggressors

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stressed on Friday that Syria does not differentiate between the authority and the people, and that everyone's responsibility is to preserve and support it, following attacks carried out by militias loyal to Bashar al-Assad on the Syrian coast.

Al-Sharaa said: "We fought the remnants in the liberation battle as if they were keen on their lives, despite their keenness on our deaths. Our goal today is to reform the country that was destroyed by the ousted regime, and we have no goal in shedding anyone's blood."

The president al-Sharaa warned the militants of the former regime against continuing to destabilize the country, stressing that their actions constitute an attack on all Syrians.

He added: "With your heinous act, you have attacked all Syrians, and committed an unforgivable sin. Take the initiative to surrender your weapons and yourselves before it is too late."

About 90 members of the Syrian Internal Security Forces and the Ministry of Defense have been killed since Thursday evening, as a result of systematic attacks carried out by the remnants of the Bashar al-Assad regime in the cities of "Jableh, Latakia, Tarous, Banias and Qardaha" in northwestern Syria. This prompted the Ministry of Defense and the Internal Security Forces to send reinforcements at dawn on Friday to the targeted areas, where they were able to regain control of them, killing about 40 members of the remnants of the regime and capturing others, and tightening control over all the areas that the remnants had temporarily seized.
