A meeting held at the home of the spiritual leader of the Druze community, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri, with the Syrian administration's envoy to Sweida, Mustafa al-Bakour, resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding, outlining the future phase in Sweida.
The document, which was attended by dignitaries who participated in the National Dialogue Conference in Damascus, stipulates the Damascus government's commitment to implementing the agreed-upon provisions, in cooperation with the people of Sweida Governorate.
The signing of the document comes the day after the Syrian flag was raised over the Sweida Governorate building, following a meeting between President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the governorate's dignitaries at the People's Palace in Damascus.
The memorandum of understanding stipulates the activation of judicial police, police and security affairs within the Ministry of Interior, and the organization of defected officers and personnel and all armed factions within the Ministry of Defense.
It also stipulates the immediate payment of all overdue salaries to employees and the review of all those dismissed before December 8, 2024.
It was agreed to prioritize employment for those arbitrarily dismissed before December 8, 2024, reform state-owned institutions financially and administratively, and expedite the appointment of members of the interim executive office to meet employees' needs.
The agreement emphasized the preservation of civil peace, the prevention of encroachment on public and private property, the removal of encroachments on state property and roads within a well-thought-out plan, and the creation of alternatives.
