Syrian helicopters drop roses instead of explosive barrels

The Syrian capital, Damascus, witnessed an exceptional event on Saturday, marking the 14th anniversary of the outbreak of the Syrian revolution against the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad.

The capital witnessed a massive demonstration during which helicopters dropped roses on the demonstrators, a historic precedent never seen before in Syria.

This demonstration is the first of its kind since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, who was deposed on December 8, 2024. Previously, helicopters dropped barrel bombs on cities and towns, killing hundreds of thousands of victims and displacing thousands in an attempt to suppress the popular uprising against his regime.

In a symbolic move, roses were carried instead of barrel bombs, marking the beginning of a new era in Syria, one in which the people triumph and hope returns to a country that has long suffered under the tyranny of the regime.

Syria today celebrates the anniversary of the revolution, recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs and the suffering endured by Syrians over 14 years of struggle and steadfastness.
