First oil tanker arrived at Baniyas port since Assad fall

The first oil tanker arrived at the port of Baniyas in Tartous region on Thursday evening, following the fall of the Assad regime, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The oil tanker "Aquatica" docked at the Baniyas oil terminal, carrying 99,771,977 metric tons of crude oil.

Tamer Aker, Director of Petroleum Facilities Relations in Tartous, said that this step comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan to restore stability to the energy sector, without specifying the source of the tanker's arrival.

With the new Syrian government taking over, the administration is seeking to secure a steady supply of crude oil to address the severe energy shortage.

The Syrian public is anticipating the impact of these shipments on improving electricity supplies and alleviating the fuel crisis that has plagued citizens for years.

The new government is also working to rehabilitate the oil sector's infrastructure and open new import channels in an attempt to restore production to its former glory.
