Daraa: Candlelight march commemorates victims of Assad's first massacre in 2011

Dozens of citizens in the southern province of Daraa participated in a candlelight march on Sunday evening in memory of the victims of the first massacre committed by the ousted regime in the province in 2011.

The Daraa Governorate announced via its official Telegram channel: "A candlelight march in memory of the martyrs of Bloody Wednesday," stressing that the event was held to honor the souls of the martyrs who fell to regime bullets at the Daraa gate on March 23, 2011, in what is known as the "Omari sit-in dispersal massacre and the Faza'at al-Rif massacre."

Photos published by the governorate showed the participation of dozens of citizens of both genders and of various age groups, carrying candles in honor of the victims of the massacre.

Daraa is known as the "cradle of the revolution" against the Bashar al-Assad regime, where the spark of popular protests erupted in March 2011.
