A member of the General Security was killed and others were injured on Sunday near the Sheikh Najjar industrial city, east of Aleppo, in a clash with gunmen loyal to the ousted regime inside an arms and ammunition depot.
The General Security also seized various weapons and ammunition hidden inside an abandoned water well in the village of Al-Madabaa in the eastern Homs countryside on Sunday, as part of an ongoing security sweep to track down hideouts of remnants of the former regime.
The General Security Directorate received a shipment of light weapons on Saturday from dignitaries from the villages of Al-Boudi and Al-Qala'a in the Jableh countryside of Latakia province. This is part of efforts to control the proliferation of weapons and restrict them to the state, in support of civil peace and strengthening security stability in the region.
