Zaman al-Wasl publishes photos of more than 200 detainees, including children, who were clearly photographed after being detained for a period of time at several checkpoints belonging to the National Defense Forces (NDF), the paramilitary forces then supporting the fallen Assad regime in Damascus and its countryside, particularly in the al-Tadamon neighborhood. Some of the detainees were also from other governorates.
The photos, which are stamped with detainee numbers and not documented with precise dates, reveal a dark side of the arbitrary arrests that have targeted hundreds of Syrians over the past years.
This step comes within the framework of Zaman al-Wasl's ongoing initiative to uncover the fate of detainees and the forcibly disappeared. The photos show detainees whose identities and fates are unknown, and who were likely detained in centers and prisons, some of which are affiliated with the National Defense Forces militia, led by Fadi Saqr, the commander of the NDF.
Zaman al-Wasl hopes that these photos will contribute to the investigation, enable the families of detainees to identify their missing relatives, and pave the way for documenting the violations committed against them in illegal detention centers, paving the way for holding those responsible accountable.
Anyone who recognizes any of the faces in the photos is requested to contact the documentation team for assistance in preparing a comprehensive file on the circumstances of their detention and documenting the case in the database of victims of detention and enforced disappearance.
