Assad's National Defense Militia arrested dozens of children on charges of financing terrorism

Between 2012 and 2014, the National Defense Militia in Damascus, led by Fadi Saqr, arrested dozens of children on charges of financing terrorism. The goal was to blackmail their families. The wealthy were exploited and forced to pay ransoms, while the children of the poor were tortured and killed.

Photos of four poor children were found among the National Defense militia's files. They were charged with "financing terrorism and receiving money from a foreign country."

The fate of the four remains unknown, with the exception of the person in photo 234, Ahmed al-Youssef, who was arrested at the age of 16 in Damascus and disappeared.
