Maps of 12 minefields surround Sednaya Prison maps still missing

An official document issued in 2010, a copy of which was obtained by Zaman al-Wasl, reveals the presence of mines planted around Sednaya Military Prison. There are no clear or approved maps identifying the locations of these mines, which were lost or hidden on the day the prison was "liberated."

The document, issued by the Engineering Department of the Ministry of Defense and addressed to the Military Police Branch in Damascus on January 17, 2010, clearly confirms the presence of mines planted in the first sector of the prison's perimeter.

According to the document, there are 12 minefields planted in 1988, with no reference to any subsequent removal or neutralization operations. This makes the prison's perimeter today an undeclared, dangerous area that threatens the lives of civilians.
